It is important to care for textiles. Maintain each product correctly, to maximize the durability of the products.
Always store the products in the best possible way.
For example, let the Freeflow Saddle pad dry after each use. With a lot of air around it. Without contact on other items or exposed to the sun. So the moisture can move away quickly.
The same goes for Hocket® and all other products. Just hang it free to air-dry.
It is important to maintain and wash each product in the right way. To maximize the durability of the products.
Always follow the textile care washing instructions on the product.
Try to get rid of the worst soil and dirt. Use a soft brush before putting it into the washing machine.
Sort laundry by colour.
ALWAYS TURN ALL PRODUCTS INSIDE OUT whenever possible.
Close all fasteners such as girths, snaps, Velcro® and zippers.
We recommend washing Hocket Neck and Hocket Front
detached from Hocket Body if you are using a small washing machine. Snowflake Hocket ® Body and Esquimaux Hocket ® Body should be washed in a professional washing machine.
Wash in 40°C (105°F) warm degrees temperature. Use the correct amount of technical detergent.
For best results, use a small amount of technical liquid detergent. Please do not use powder detergents, fabric softener or chlorine bleach. They affect the breathability and water repellence of your products.
We recommend using a gentle cycle. That does not rigorously spin the garment. Reducing the spinning will minimize creasing or damage that can be caused by pulling and twisting the Hocket®.
We also recommend running an extra rinse cycle. To ensure any potential residue is fully removed from your products.
For wool product – the natural fat content is so high they are self clean. Please just shake it gently and let it hang to ventilate. Do not wash it in water or dry clean.
Please follow the instructions on the item and on the detergent bottle.
We recommend line-drying your products. It uses less energy and reduces your impact on the environment.
For water-repellent effect, the Hocket® is treated with durable water repellent-finish (DWR).
Before storing the products there are a few things to consider.
Make sure the product is clean, dry and stored at room temperature or cooler.
Don’t move products directly into storage from sun or other hot environments. This can damage the waterproofing membrane. It is better to allow the Hocket® to cool before storing.
The membrane on the inside of the fabric on the Hocket® gives the waterproofing properties. It must be handled with the same care as your own outdoor clothes.
The best storing option is to let it hang freely. To seal it in e.g. a plastic bag will accelerate the breakdown of the membranes. If you need to have it packaged, we recommend Equimade’s packing bag. Storage should be in a dry, cool and dark place.
Please follow the wash instructions on your product and give it that extra touch of love to make it last a lifetime.
